Swine Flu

My mother called me the other day to ask if it was possible the flu I caught earlier this year could have been the swine flu. God bless my mother. Even if it had been the swine flu, I obviously survived and I'm currently doing fine. I love when mothers fret, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The Witch Flies North

Hubby & I booked our trip up North to see my best friend T. and spend some quality shopping time in New York City a few weeks ago. We had a issue with the dates, but finally settled on June 3-8th. When we went to pick up Hubby's parents for his birthday dinner last night, I noticed his sisters graduation announcements on the table. Hubby had mentioned he thought her graduation would be sometime in mid-June, turns out he was wrong. Her high-school graduation is June 4th, the same day Hubby planned on flying out to meet us.

So that leaves Hubby with a dilemma: Does he proceed with the trip or stay and attend the graduation? I'm not changing my plans, because let's face it, she thinks I'm a witch and couldn't care less if I go. Now Hubby on the other hand, I'm not sure if she would care either way. It's weighing heavily on his mind, because he doesn't want to not go and have it be the final nail in the coffin in their already precarious relationship. I'm guessing he'll skip the trip altogether and attend the ceremony. His parents didn't say anything when we told them the dilemma, but I'm sure they'll be happy if he stays home and goes with them.

Birthdays

Hubby's 29th birthday is today, and I think it hit him suddenly last night. I was watching TV in bed and he came out of the bedroom freshly shaven, with a serious look on his face. I asked him if he was okay, and he asked me the following question "How old do you think I look?"

He obviously is coming to terms that he is no longer the high-school soccer stud, but that he's now a more mature stud. I furrow my brow and pretend to study his face. My response was " Well, with your beard you could pass for 25, without your beard you could easily pass for 22-23." Oh the smile that lit up his face was great. I obviously gave him the answer he needed to hear, whether it was true or not. (For the record, I think it's true) I don't even want to see him when he hits his 30th birthday, I seriously think he may freak out and try to buy a corvette and blame it on a mid-life crisis.

Party Possibilities

So we're throwing a White Party for Hubby's birthday this week. I wish I could say I came up with the idea, but we're totally biting off of P. Diddy's annual White Party held in the Hampton's. The pictures always look so fresh and fun, we figured it was the perfect idea to celebrate his birthday and the arrival of spring.

As many of you know, when I throw a theme party, I REALLY like to rock the theme. So I've been scouring the internet for ideas and decorations. I was making my shopping list last night and hubby asked what I was looking for. When I informed him I was searching for different kinds of white candy, he started laughing and informed me that wasn't necessary. Excuse me, not necessary?!!! I always believe for your party to have ambiance, you need to really embrace your theme. Needless to say I picked up a bunch of fun white items this weekend, without the hubby, of course.

I've decided to serve White Sangria and White Champagne Punch as the main drinks. It's BYOB, so if guests want something else specific, they have to bring it. Finding white appetizers has been a little harder. I'm having some color specific apps, but I decided to throw in other colors because I like to serve a bevvy of different foods. But for the most part, I'm happy to say I'm sticking with the theme. We were also hoping to have a band friend of ours fly in to play music, but he was booked on a good paying gig and couldn't come. So I've been working on a playlist that appeals to the masses.

I'm quite interested to see who shows up in all white and who doesn't play by the rules. Technically, even your shoes should be white, but we'll let it slide!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday night was a lazy night that found Hubby and I eating pizza and watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Love that movie, wish I had a dozen Chihuahuas every time I see it!

Saturday I was up early and off to the gym. Ran a few errands to pick up some decorations for Hubby's birthday party next weekend. We picked up some Chinese food from Mama Fu's and headed over to D&L's to meet their new baby, Emmett. He is so freakin' cute but was rather fussy. He only wanted to be held by his momma, but he did cave and let me carry him around for a bit without throwing a tantrum too bad. I think both parents were a bit surprised about how tired and draining the past 8 weeks had been. I was informed to triple the amount of diapers you think you would go through in 8 weeks!

Sunday was gloomy and overcast, so I slept in until 10ish. Hubby wanted to go run some errands, and I got up and went with. We hit his favorite haunts, Marshall's, T.J. Maxx and Ross. He was in heaven, lol. We got a few more decorations and I found a cute yoga workout outfit for $20, so that made me happy. We got home around 3ish and hubby went outside to work on the lighting for the party. We ended up watching Quantum of Solace, which was pretty good. We both agreed Pierce Brosnon was the best James Bond. I ended up taking some stomach meds around 7 which had me passed out by 8pm. So needless to say, I had an early night.

Give Me Strength

Hubby: Have you seen my work shirts?

Me: No, where did you put them last?

Hubby: The dirty clothes hamper.

Me: Well.... have you bothered to wash your clothes?

Hubby: No.

Me: Funny thing, if you don't wash the clothes, they don't magically get clean. Weird, I know.

Hubby: But you wash the clothes so well, I thought you would do them.

Me: Another funny thing: technically I don't wash the clothes. I put some detergent and turn the washing machine on and the MACHINE washes the clothes. I really can't take all the credit for getting your clothes clean. That being said, you might want to try putting your own clothes in the washer. I hear it cleans clothes so well.

Weird Dreams

Shortly after the regular monthly partner meeting at work, I had a very odd dream. In my dream, we had a particularly rough meeting and everyone was all hyped up and angry. So my boss decided we should all go to the tattoo parlour and "blow off some steam." We all agree and hop in the car to the closest tattoo joint. I can't decide what type of tattoo to get, and my boss hops in the chair and decides he wants to get a tattoo of his net worth on his right arm. He starts bugging me to tell him his net worth (since I handle his books) and to tell him what color ink to get. I refuse to tell him and inform him that's the dumbest idea for a tattoo ever.

It was such an odd dream, and once I had woken up, I decided I'm working to hard if I'm dreaming about work!
