I happened to stumble across a website that has clothes which offer a hidden layer of shaping material to help with your little tummy pooch you can't seem to shake. Check out www.shapefx.com to see the whole collection. They offer everything from a really gorgeous wedding dress to jeans and work outfits.
I'm placing my order for their Shaper Cami and I really want the bodysuit where you can still wear your own bra underneath. Sadly my size is sold out at the moment, but I've signed up for emails so I won't be out of the loop!

No Left Turn
To the left of my desk is a nice double window that I often stare out of and daydream of being outside and not stuck at work. I work off of a pretty quite street, minus the bums that tend to hang around and pee on our fence and talk to themselves. The odd thing is that you can't make a left hand turn onto our street coming from the east. The city has two signs letting drivers know this, but mostly everyone ignores the signs.
Cops love to hang out in our parking lot and wait for offenders to make the left turn. It's now become a game in our office that when we hear the cop sirens start going that we laugh and yell "Number 1, 2, 3, etc." Yeah, we get bored sometimes. The best is when they pull over cyclists for cutting through the Wendy's parking lot. The cyclists raise hell and yell at cops and call them names and we just sit in our office and laugh. Like I said, we get bored a lot.

Love/Hate Relationship
Dim Sum, you were truly fabulous last weekend. My first experience with a Dim Sum brunch was great, until the next day or so. Because you are ladden with gluten (wheat for you regular folks) and I'm intolerant, I'm now cursing my decision to eat your tastiness. I've been bloated, uncomfortable, achy, irritable and tired since I ate you. But oh how good you tasted! Your sesame dipped balls with red bean paste, I can just see you now. But alas, I think I must bid you adieu forever. It's just not worth feeling like it's that time of the month every time I eat gluten. Don't take it personal Dim Sum, it's not just you. It's all breads, muffins, rolls, pizzas, burritos, cookies, etc. See, doesn't that make you feel better? I hope it makes you feel better because I'm currently dreaming in color all the foods I can no longer stuff my face with. Sigh.

Pulling Teeth
I dropped my chihuahua off at the Vet this morning for her annual teeth cleaning. I was bad and didn't have them cleaned last year because my hubby bitched and moaned. The vet told me I could call after 2pm and check to see how she was doing. Don't you know I called at ten after and they informed me they needed to talk to me. Her two top molars were rotted and needed to be pulled and her 4 bottom teeth between her incisors were loose and they were recommending extraction as well!
I was shocked, because my normal vet had just recommended a cleaning for tartar build-up and didn't mention anything about possible extractions. I freak out and tell them obviously to pull the rotted ones, but I was worried about the implications of the other four teeth. How would she eat without those, etc, etc. I did some quick research online, called my mom freaking out, cried a bit, and figured out my plan of attack. The vet ended up calling me back and they decided the 4 teeth would be fine and probably stay put for another year to two. Whew! So she's only going to be slightly pissed when she wakes up with two less molars. And I can stop having a panic-attack because I wasn't ready for all this doggie dental drama today!

Weekend Wrap-Up
Friday night was a glorious night of quite pampering and girly movies. I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic (movie was good, book was better) and deep conditioned my hair. I worked on some baby shower projects and called it a night around 11pm.
Saturday I got up and hit the gym for my favorite class. I headed into town later that afternoon to do some shopping until C was done her errands. I ended up finding an awesome dress for the wedding I'm attending in October. It's a deep red color and it was 40% off! I also found some shoes that will work for the 50's party I'm attending this weekend. A group of us meet up for dinner and then headed off to see The Proposal. I seriously laughed my butt off at the movie! I had to control myself because I thought I was being too loud. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Renolds were really great together and there were a ton of funny moment. Former Golden Girl Betty White was the grandmother and she was really great.
Sunday morning I had to head to Walmart (uggg) and wait for over 2 hours to have my car battery replaced. Luckily T picked me up so I didn't have to miss my first Dim Sum experience. A group of us went to Shanghai for their famous Dim Sum Brunch. We were all pretty hungry by the time we were seated, and they loaded our table with various Dim Sum and other dishes and we proceeded to stuff our faces silly. Next time, we'll pace ourselves because we missed out on several carts that had some seriously yummy looking food. My favorite were the sesame balls with red bean paste. I wish I had a few right now! It was definitely worth $12 a person, and I would go back to try the rest of the food.
I headed back home after lunch and relaxed by the pool for a bit. Cooked some fish for my friend and her daughter and then decided to clean out my pantry. I was super embarrassed on the amount of un-opened expired food I had to throw away! I'm buying less in bulk from now on, I felt so wasteful. After dinner I snuggled down to watch New In Town with Renee Zelwegger and Harry Connick Jr. It was a predictable but cute movie. Glad I was getting all my girly movies in while Hubby is gone!

50's party
My aunt is turning the big 50 next weekend and decided to throw a 50's theme party since the neighborhood always likes the themed parties I throw. I'm so proud of her, she's been buying 50's themed decorations since the White Party in April. She doesn't normally throw all-out theme parties and she's really excited about this one.
I love to dress up in costumes so of course this party is right up my ally. I decided on a sock hop outfit and Hubby is going as Danny Zucko from Grease. He's going to wear dark jeans, white socks with black shoes, a white muscle tshirt with a pack of cigarettes rolled in his sleeve Check out the wig I got him so he could look more authentic.

I was tempted to go as Sandy from Grease, but the Rydell High cheer outfit was a long sleeved shirt and skirt, and it's just going to be too darn hot to wear that. So this is what I ordered instead:

The saddle shoes were on back order, so I'm going to get a cheap pair of Keds and use felt to make the black sections. My aunt ordered a black and white dance floor (I think) and a tent so we can dance all night long. I'm thinking a flapper cake recipe I found which originated in the 50's.

Flightsuit, Check!
I worry about my sister sometimes. I talk to her after work almost every day and ask her how her day went, etc. Last night I asked her what was new and going on, and she informed me she had just ordered a Flightsuit for her Lovebird, Lovey. I was quite perplexed and asked her to explain what a bird flightsuit was.

Pretty much, it's a jumpsuit that goes over their wings and body to collect their poop, so they can be around the house and on people and not make messes. I was still having trouble imagining this product, and these are some photos I found.

I think she's going to have a hell of a time getting her bird to wear this crazy contraption. They even have special flightsuits for all the holidays so your bird can be at the height of fashion! Santa Claws anyone?! I warned my sister she was turning into the cat lady, but with birds. Sigh. Someone needs a dog bad.

Do I Look Like James Bond?
The other day Hubby was hosing off my car since every bird downtown decided to go potty on it while I was at work. It was about 6pm so it was still nice and sunny out. Hubby was doing all this while in his black boxer shorts and told me to keep a look out for any cars approaching our street.
A car comes down the street and Hubby dashes behind my car and asks me "Do my underware look look like James Bond's swim trunks?" Apparantly black skin tight swim suits are more suitable than boxers. I couldn't help but laugh my ass off because, seriously, who asks a question like that? Oh wait, that would be my husband.

It's Getting Hot In Herre
As I was driving home from the gym last night, I noticed a news truck at the gas station by my neighborhood. Nothing that goes on in my hood is usually news worthy, so it struck me as odd. Given my occasional bouts of ADD, I forgot all about it in the 5 minute drive home.
Luckily just some ranch land was burned and a few neighborhood fences. No people were injured thank goodness!
My inbox was exploding this morning with emails regarding the fire in my neighborhood. What?! Apparently a downed power line caused a spark that turned into a pretty major fire. Some of the roads don't have water lines, so they had to call in the helicopters to scoop up water from the lake to douse the fire. Here is a photo that a friend took from across the lake. What's crazy is I can make out two of my friend's houses in the photo!

Weekend Wrap-Up
I did survive our office move last week and as you can see, we've gotten our Internet hooked back up! Blessed Be! Last week was crazy as my office scrambled to finish packing and labeling our gazillion boxes. The actual move went very smooth, much to my dismay. My office is about 95% up and running so I'm very happy. We still have loads of boxes to open, but at least my little office can be a sanctuary of no boxes!
Friday night we went to dinner with some friends and hit up Fion, which is a wine and beer bar that boasts 900 beers and 500 wines available! I tried an apple cider drink that was pretty good. The boys tried a few different beers and were quite pleased at the ridiculously large selection.
Saturday I headed to Yoga and then to register for the cake decorating class I'll be taking in August. Later that evening Hubby and I headed over to E&E's house for dinner and to catch up with their new bundles of joy. The twins are ridiculously cute and Hubby even held little A for most of the evening. It was a really cute site. The dinner E cooked was amazing and Hubby and I couldn't stop raving about it. We talked and laughed for a bit and then settled in to watch the first two episodes of season 2 True Blood! Hubby and I were so happy, we've been contemplating ordering HBO so we can satisfy our craving for more True Blood.
Sunday I slept in until noon while Hubby had to leave by 7:30am for his Hunter's Safety Course. Much to his dismay, the class was cancelled when he arrived because the instructor lost his keys. Oops. Hubby then went to his favorite stores, Marshall's, Lowe's and Ross, so the day wasn't a total loss! When I finally got my butt out of bed, I gave our bathroom a much needed scrub down and did some other needed chores. The sun finally peaked through the clouds at 2pm, so I headed outside to the pool with my last Sookie book to get caught up. I made shrimp ceviche that was awesome and to end the weekend we watched "Knowing" with Nicolas Cage. Not a bad movie, but glad I didn't pay big bucks to see it in the theater.

Moving
Lord please give me strength. Our office is moving locations on Wednesday, and we're spending all day packing today. I'm exhausted from staying up too late watching episodes of True Blood (Season 1) and feel like shit because I did the re-introduction phase of wheat into my allergy diet for the past two days. I want to die I feel so crappy, but now I know I definitely have a gluten intolerance, and most likely all dairy as well.

Surprise Accomplished!
Just pulled off the best surprise for Hubby. Picked up his friend J from the airport and had Hubby meet my "company" for lunch before he went to work under the guise he was helping our office move locations. When he walked into the diner and saw his friend, his face was absolutely priceless! He was stunned and speechless (which rarely ever happens) and then got the biggest grin on his face. The boys are now full from lunch and off to spend some male-bonding time together. I'll probably go home to find they've built another man-cave in the backyard!

Joy
I stopped by Michael's today, and they have started putting out Halloween items!!! I made my first holiday purchase of a bitchin' white owl with creepy eyes for the mantle. Start thinking of your costumes ladies!
On another note, I will be taking the Cake Decorating Class Level 1 starting in August. They are offering it on either Monday or Wednesdays. If anyone is interested and one day works better than the others, let me know. I'm leaning towards Wednesday.

Kicking & Screaming
My office is in the middle of moving and I'm tearing my hair out because not one box has been packed! Just found out ALL filing cabinets need to be emptied out completely before the movers get here on Wednesday. Eff'ing great. Oh, did I mention I'm also PMS'ing which is making for a wonderful day!

My Horoscope for Tomorrow
"You may be required to focus your attention on a work-related matter, but you really don't want to put in too much effort on much of anything today. Unfortunately, you might not be able to slow your mind down enough to truly relax, yet it's still a smart idea to schedule some downtime. You'll need some energy in reserve for when things pick up this weekend."
Shoot, that sounds like how most of my days wind up going! Not wanting to work during the week and needing to reserve energy for the weekend!!

Weekend Wrap-Up
Another busy 3-day weekend! I was lucky enough to have Friday off, so I took advantage of sleeping in till 9am. I got my butt in gear and headed to the gym for a Body Flow class and then headed over to the grocery store to pick up provisions for the birthday party/4th of July party going on at my casa on Saturday. Holy cow, the store was a madhouse! People were zooming in and out of aisles with blatant disregard for their fellow shoppers. I had my list in hand and even so, I finished up in about an hour. I also had to pick up a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting for the birthday girl. It was 102 degrees outside and I was praying the whole way home that the damn cake didn't melt!
I made it home and unpacked and Hubby called to tell me they were just starting playing the back nine and would be home in about 2 hours. Him and a friend went golfing on Willie's course and had quite an experience. From golfers without shirts to raunchy bets and lots of beer. Needless to say they had a fun time. For the rest of the day I lounged out by the pool and read more Sookie books. Later than evening we headed to PF Changs for dinner, which was delicious as usual.
Saturday started off with a bang as the pool party commenced at noon. We had a ton of food and drinks and wonderful company. We swam all day and laughed and waited for the fireworks to start around 9:15pm. A neighbor friend does a wonderful fireworks display on his own dime each year, so we had private front row seats and didn't have to fight for parking or be bothered by unruly crowds. Party lasted until a little after midnight when the remaining few called it a night.
Sunday started off with a yummy group breakfast and then we headed back to the pool to lay out all day. Other friends came over to help us eat the overabundance of food and by 6pm Hubby and I were vegging on the couch watching movies to unwind. Gotta love 3 day weekends!

I Love Vampires
I'm currently reading the Sookie Stackhouse series of books, which I love. S. passed along the first four episodes of True Blood, which is the HBO series based on the books. The two disks were 4 hours total, and I stayed up until midnight watching them all. Damn, I love vampires. Plus for all you dudes, Anna Paquin shows some skin in the series, but not until later. There is still plenty of R-rated stuff to get your Hubbies interested in watching this with you!

I Think I Killed A Bird
So I was driving to work and was puttering along when I noticed a cardinal was flying quite low about 15 feet in front of my car. As I was rapidly approaching the flying bird, I yelled "Pull Up, Pull Up!!!" Would you believe the damn bird never pulled up?! It hit my windshield with a thud as I gasped in horror and tried to see in the rear-view mirror if it had been able to fly away. I didn't see anything, so I was hoping it was just dazed when it hit my car and was able to fly away fine.
Later that evening when I told my Hubby what happened, he informed me quite matter of factly that the bird most likely died. He explained how fragile their bones were and that it wouldn't have survived a thunk like that on my windshield. So now it's my theory the bird was sick and was trying to commit suicide and I just helped it along. Sigh. I hate when animals die.
