Oh hot damn, the last day of work before our trip! Our flight leaves at 7:30am, and we'll be soaking up the sun by 11am. It's my wish that when the resort shuttle picks us up, we'll be greeted with a cool and refreshing pina colada. It's about a twenty minute ride from the airport to the hotel, and you can be sure I'll be snapping pictures along the way.
I purchased a 2GB memory card for my camera and I'm hoping to capture some really great sunset and possibly sunrise photos. Hubby plans to do some diving and I am bringing along a few books to read while I lounge in the sun. Ahh, I can almost smell the ocean now! We also plan on renting a jeep and touring the East side of the island. Many of the reviews I've read say that the current is stronger on that side, so we'll probably just check it out and forgo any swimming.
A stop at the national park to swim with dolphins is also on our to-do list, as well as visiting some local ruins. A stop at Alberto's for the famous fish taco's is also a must. This last day of work is going to be torture!

It's One of Those Days...
Ugg, thank god I only have one more day of work before my trip. I'm seriously on the fringe of losing it. Good news, I managed to find some board shorts for my trip!

Weekend Wrap-Up
Oh yes, Friday night did consist of C., S., and I going to the Twilight release party at Blockbuster! We strolled in wearing our Team Edward shirts (by far the best looking ones) and attempted to throw elbows to win the trivia questions. Damn those little middle-schoolers for being up front! Even the fact I towered over the kids did not help our attempt to answer questions like "What does blood smell like to Bella? (rust and salt for you non-readers!).
It was quite laugh-worthy as we purchased special collector edition Sweethearts with the characters on the box. They will come in quite handy for our Twilight viewing party next month (ok, seriously, stop laughing). The place was packed with probably about 100 people, mostly with kids in middle and highschool. They really needed to be cranking the air conditioning because so many hormonal, pre-pubescent kids made that place a hotbox. It was sweaty and stinky and I'd like to take this moment and do a PSA for teenagers of America: Please, for the love of God, shower each and every morning! You kids were the stinkiest kids ever and it was disgusting. If someone labels you "uncool" for having good personal hygiene, don't worry about it! Those are the kids who end up working in McDonald's smelling like greasy hamburgers and french fries anyways.
Saturday was the first round of baby showers for our friend E., who is expecting twins this May. The ranch it was held out was breathtaking and I didn't want to leave the party. It was so relaxing and the weather was wonderful. The food was amazing and the games were fun. I was hoping the onesie I decorated would win, but alas, the Two Peas In The Pod won. Righteously so. After the party, I was so exhausted from a late night of Twilighting on Friday, I went home and slept for three hours. Hubby tried to get me energized to go downtown and enjoy a night of SXSW, but I declined. Instead, I made chocolate chip cookies, ate the dough, and watched The Holiday in bed with my chihuahua. And I drooled over how cute Jude Law was. Wow, I sound wicked lame reading that last part!
Sunday I went to Yoga only to find our normal instructor was out, and a sub was teaching that day. She sucked. I managed to make it about an hour and bailed because she had a very rushed technique and she normally doesn't teach the hour and a half classes. So then I headed to the grocery store to stock up on items for our Mexico trip. Only 4 more days to go! Later that evening T. invited us over for some amazing fajitas and good company. And birthday cake, which always makes a good end to the weekend.

Team Edward/ Team Jacob
Back in full effect baby! Midnight is the release of the Twilight movie on DVD and I'm wondering if that fact I'm contemplating going to the release party at Borders tonight makes me totally lame. Oh well, who cares?! I could win some free swag, laugh my butt off and have fun, so I'm in. Who's with me?!!!!!!

Horse Bling?
While leaving the grocery store yesterday, I noticed a big SUV that had a business decal on the back window. It read "Got Bling?" "Horse Accessories with Meaning"
I was quite flummoxed, as I didn't realize horses needed bling. I figured their owners would find better use of their money buying them feed and providing shelter, etc. I did some research when I got home and found out the "Horse Bling" is very popular around these parts, and they even have "Bling Fling" home parties where a consultant comes out with jewelry not only for horses, but for their riders.

Interesting, to say the least. Any excuse to throw a party, right?!

Guess Who I Saw At Lunch?
Give up??? Nancy McKeon, who played Jo on Facts of Life. I know, I know, it's nothing like Paul Rudd or Reese Witherspoon, but hey! I spotted her when I ran out for lunch today and knew her face immediately. For those of you with spotty memories, here is a picture and some facts http://www.televisionhits.com/factsoflife/cast/nancymckeon.html

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
In the spirit of St. Patty's Day, I've found some fun facts on the holiday:
1. St. Patrick was born in 385 A.D., in Britain, and was captured and sold into slavery at the age of 16.
2. Legend says that each leaf of the clover means something: the first is for hope, the second for faith, the third for love and the fourth for luck.
3. One estimate suggests that there are about 10 000 regular three-leaf clovers for every lucky four-leaf clover.
4. 36.5 million U.S. residents claimed Irish ancestry in 2007, more than eight times the 4 million-plus population of Ireland itself. The only ancestry reported more often was German.
5. The phrase, "Drowning The Shamrock" is from the custom of floating the shamrock on the top of whiskey before drinking it. The Irish believe that if you keep the custom, then you will have a prosperous year.
6. St. Patrick's Day began as a religious holiday to honor St. Patrick, who brought Christianity to Ireland in the fifth century.
7. Those with Irish heritage were more likely to have higher household income, own their own homes and earn educational degrees. Specifically:
-32 percent of Irish Americans older than 24 held at least a bachelor's degree and 92 percent held at least a high school diploma, compared with 28 percent and 85 percent for the entire U.S.
-Households headed by an Irish-American received a median income of $56,966 in 2007 compared with $50,740 for all households.
-72 percent of those Irish-headed homes were owned, compared with 67 percent for all households. The remainder rented.
8. If you don't wear green on St. Patty's Day, you run the risk of being pinched!
9. For the best Irish Potatoe Candy recipe, check out this site http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Irish-Potato-Candy/Detail.aspx
10. Irish people can have wickedly bad tempers (This isn't a scientific fact, but since I'm half Irish, I have to agree with this!)

I'm A Witch...
if you ask my sister-in-law. The in-laws are off skiing in New Mexico for Spring Break, which leaves Hubby & I to look after their three dogs. We ran over last night to let them out, and went into his sister's room to look for more dog treats. She had a scrapbook on her table, so I started thumbing through it out of curiosity.
Most of the pictures showed the high-schoolers drinking and partying. Something that would warm the heart of every parent if they actually took time to find out what their kids are up to. It was very dis-heartening to see her partying like that in the pictures, she's so young, she has plenty of time to party. We keep browsing and come across pictures from the infamous Halloween party last year, and I was very surprised to see my picture in her scrapbook. But as I took a closer look, I figured out why: She had pasted a sticker that said "Witch" underneath me. Hubby looked a little confused and later admitted he was trying to figure out why she put that since I wasn't dressed up like a witch.
Of course we won't say anything to her about it, or the in-laws because I don't even want to give her the time of day. It's quite sad she's choosing me to deflect upon, but whatever. It doesn't ruin my day or affect me personally. It's quite sad that she's chosen bad influences and crappy friends over family who tells it to her like it is. Ah, to be a stupid kid and think you're invincible. Sorry sweetheart, you've got another thing coming when you finally graduate high school and are introduced to the real world.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Friday night was totally lazy and I loved it. Hubby and I watched some TV and splurged by ordering a pepperoni pizza from our favorite little pizza place. I don't think we made it past 10:30pm before we passed out.
Saturday Hubby dropped me off for my Flow class, while he ran some errands until it was time to pick me up. We finally managed to order mats and frames for two pictures his uncle painted when he was younger. Then we headed to Ross & T.J. Max, my husbands favorite stores. I managed to find a cute sundress for our upcoming trip and hubby found some water shoes. We're planning on going to the south side of the island and everyone recommended water shoes to protect your feet from the rocks and coral. We were getting tired so we headed home to rest and change for the carnival! We drove about an hour away to go the carnival, and while it was fun, it was much smaller than we anticipated. We played some carni games, ate cotton candy and a candy apple. I really wanted a funnel cake, but hubby called me a carnival fatty. He's kinda right because if he hadn't been there, I would have spent all my tokens on food and not games!
Sunday I dragged my butt out of bed in time for Yoga and then went to do some more baby shower shopping. When I got home, T. came over and tried on all my summer dresses for the cruise she's going on in April. Much to her surprise, she liked and looked smashing in the dresses I insisted she try on, even though they were not her usual style. It was still early in the afternoon, so we got changed and headed into town to spend more money and end the recession! I snagged some Ann Taylor Loft jeans for $20 and we each got some cute items at Old Navy. Later that evening I made Turkey Chili and even got hubby to go on an evening run with me. I suggest not eating before you go running, I wanted to puke halfway through. My bad.

Comedy Show
Just heard this morning on a radio ad that comedian Nick Swardson is playing a show here in town! Tickets go on sale tomorrow and I'm buying a pair. For those of you who don't know who Nick is, he plays Terry on Reno 911, was in Grandma's Boy, Don't Mess With The Zohan, Chuck & Larry (gay brother of Eva Mendes).

Middle School Memories
I was definitely not the popular kid back in middle school. I was tall, thin, nerdy, with thick glasses. Don't get me wrong, I had friends, but I could never quite penetrate into the "popular group" to make friends. I was a cheerleader, but that couldn't even help my status, it seemed I was destined to be that fringe-group friend. The one the popular kids said hi to, but never invited to their awesome birthday parties and events.
I went to a Catholic school and I swear to the heavens, those girls were the worst bitches I have ever met. It's like those schools breed an extra bitchy type of girl. They start them young, that's all I can say. Two specific memories of being an outcast come to mind when I think about middle school. Going to the ice-skating rink was popular on the weekends, and my parents would always offer to drive a bunch of us on Friday nights. The rink had a "club" upstairs where you could go and dance after you finished skating. As a bunch of us were skating, my pseudo-friends come up and say "Hey, do you remember the time that Keith was skating and almost fell and busted his chin?" In an effort to be cool I reply "of heck yes, that was so funny!" That girl starts laughing out loud and yells out to the passing friends, "You're right, she said she remembered it and it never even happened!"
Of course I get all pissed because these girls are supposed to be my friends. I decide I'm done skating and head upstairs to the club. Lo and behold the boys they like are there and we all start to dance. I was quite limber in the hips back in those days and let's just say, we all liked to get down when we danced. Those girls got so angry, they found our cheerleading coach at the rink and brought her up to the club to see us dancing. She then went downstairs to tell my mother that I was dirty dancing.
My second memory is the annual Halloween Hayride and Party a popular girl used to have every year. I was never invited until 6th grade, when I was dating a star basketball player. I was so excited when I got invited, I couldn't even believe it. I was getting to go to the Hayride and Haunted House and hang out with the cool people! My dad dropped me off and I was really nervous about how the party was going to be. Everyone was really nice to me (only because of my boyfriend) but I still had a good time. We ran through the Haunted House and I screamed the whole time while burying my head in my boyfriend's shirt. We headed back to the house later and spent the rest of the night running around the property in the moonlight. I remember at one point we collapsed on the ground, between two pine trees, laughing the whole time as we watched the stars. It was probably one of the best nights and memory of middle school.
Shortly after that party, I was asked to leave Catholic school, pretty much because I was a handful and couldn't conform to the Catholic ways. I left the first part of seventh grade and entered Public School, which is a whole set of stories for another day!

TV Confession
I love the show Toddlers & Tiaras on TLC. The pageantry circuit fascinates me and I find the lengths the parents go to to make their child the "prettiest" interesting. It's like an hour glimpse into a foreign culture.
My hubby makes fun of me for watching this brainless show, but I don't care. He also points out how most of the moms are ugly and pushing their kids into pageantry to make up for their lackluster and non-beautiful childhood. He may have a valid point, so I don't argue with him.
I have to admit, it makes me want a crown real bad (name that movie reference!).

Amazing Photographer
Last week an article on CNN caught my eye, it was about finding romance via Flikr, the photo sharing website. Ever the sucker for romance, I read the article and learned more about a 17 year old English photographer named Rosie Hardy and her American boyfriend Aaron. Shortened version, they are both amateur photographers who found each other on Flikr and after months of talking, sharing ideas, etc, they began to fall in love. Cute story, but what I really love is how amazing their photos are.
They started a website together, http://nacedesign.com/blog/ , and it shows how they create their photos, both as a couple and individually. Rosie's photos are my favorite, especially her Fairytale series. Do yourself a favor and check out her Flikr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/rosie_hardy/2839895599/in/set-72157604736073126/ to see her 365 days series. Amazing.
What's even better is that you can order prints through Shutterfly on their website. Great price for really amazing photography. I'll be ordering a few prints to decorate my new office.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Hubby had to work a home show on Saturday and had been trying to convince me to give up my Saturday to go and keep him company. I didn't really want to go because I would have to miss my Body Flow class, but I bargained with him. I would go if I could get another charm for my bracelet. He agreed and I got this bead to remember the honeymoon we'll be going on in 17 days!

While I was driving home from buying the bead, C. happened to be in our neck of the woods and we met up with them for dinner. We had lots of fun talking, laughing and stuffing our faces. Then we proceeded to go home and pass out!
Saturday I got up at 6am to get ready to leave by 7am for the home show. Turnout was pretty good, and we did have a good time hanging out together. Afterwards, we stopped in a quaint little town to do some window shopping and eat a wonderful dinner.
Hubby had to go back on Sunday, and sadly I was forced to miss! I went to Yoga and then raced home to get ready for a baby shower I was attending in the neighborhood. I made my sinful brownie/cookie creation which went over huge with the ladies. There were three babies in total at the party and they were adorable. I got to hold them all and they were so well behaved. They were all less than 2 months old and captivated everyone at the shower. Afterwards I headed to T's house to hang out for a bit while they worked on mosaic'ing their bird baths. Definitely hard work, but they were coming along beautifully. I took my chi to the park to get some fresh air and she managed to find an old hot dog and chicken leg and tried to eat it. Disgusting!
Later that evening, T and I managed to suit up and go for a run around the neighborhood. We're trying to get into slut body shape for summer!!!

Spring Is In The Air
Dogwoods are blooming, my iris bulbs are beginning to sprout and the temperature is a lovely 84 degrees today. I met some of my girlfriends for lunch and we feasted outside on the breezeway. Their was a perfect breeze to keep up cool, the sun was shining and everything is better when you meet up with friends for lunch on a Friday!
We did overhear a woman asking for a more private table because she was meeting up with her ex-boyfriend and they needed more privacy. Classic example of TMI. Weirdly, she was carrying a black case that resembled a flute case, which we were hoping didn't house a gun to off the ex.

Vandalized
As I was walking towards my office this morning and was about to flip on my lights, I noticed a shiny piece of what looked like glass on my floor. I was puzzled at first, but as I flipped on the lights and stepped into my office, I found the culprit. Sometime last evening, somebody threw a brick into my office window and shattered it!
Luckily nothing was stolen, it appears they got spooked and took off before finishing the window off. I freaked out and ran to the next suite and got the building owner. We did a quick search of the other rooms and luckily there was no damage. Glass was all over my desk, floor, bookcase, etc. My heart was racing because I just wasn't expecting all this drama this morning. Now I'm exhausted and need a nap. If I lived back in the Victorian age, it's safe to say I would have fainted with "vapors."
We called the police and filed a police report, but apparently since brick is porous, they can't get finger prints from it. (I'll be on the look-out for that mistake on the crime shows now!) As you can see from this picture, here is what my window looks like at the moment.

You Are Cleared For Takeoff!
After months of debating the best place to finally take our honeymoon, last night hubby and I booked our trip to Cozumel for a glorious 5 night, 6 day stay! I am very excited and relieved that hubby was able to stop agonizing over the best place to stay as well as the best price. There are so many wonderful resorts to choose from it was getting a bit overwhelming for me.
Hubby kept going back to one resort in particular because it is located at the end of the island which means less of a distance to amazing scuba diving. To keep things easy, I declared that the resort looked the best and we should pick that one. Whew, getting him to make up his mind is difficult! It's not a party resort, and no spring breakers are allowed, and that appealed to both of us. We are looking for a laid back vacation with lots of time soaking up the sun, snorkeling, scuba diving and possibly visiting the local ruins.
I need to start checking out my closet and deciding what to bring!

Weekend Wrap-Up
Another busy weekend has come and gone. Friday night found me shopping for more baby shower paraphernalia with C. & T. I've never been to Babies R Us, and it is quite an overwhelming experience. So many options and choices for everything from baby wipes to cribs and car seats. It's no wonder new mothers and fathers look so shell shocked in those stores!
Saturday I hit the gym and went to a friend's house to watch them mosaic a birdbath. It's way too much work, so I won't ever do one of my own. But I took the opportunity to make a centerpiece for the baby shower that I was hoping would come out well. K helped me assemble the pieces, and I have to say, it looks pretty good! So it's a keeper and I'll be using it at the shower next month. Later that evening we had dinner with E & E to do some catching up. We had a fabulous time and some great conversations. We even ran into some other friends who just happened to be there!
Sunday I was under the weather and slept in until noon. It was awesome. Then I got up and went into town to make some returns and waste some time. We had to be at a birthday party cocktail hour at 6pm, and like the classy group we are, we all piled into the motor home and rode to the swanky neighborhood in class. The food was amazing, especially the scalloped potatoes that had been parboiled in heavy whipping cream! Swoon! The wine was flowing and the oysters they had were fabulous. They were huge and there really is no ladylike way to eat it but stuff the whole thing in your mouth. Which I did on several occasions. I did catch an old man eating them right from the serving fork! I stayed away from that fork needless to say.
