What A Day!

It was a busy day indeed! We learned that C was admitted into the hospital around 6am after her water broke. We also learned that T had to have emergency surgery for an appendectomy and to have some of her small intestine removed!

The day was a flutter of texts, emails, phone calls making sure everyone was okay and that all the girls knew all the latest information. We all like to be kept in the loop and I played information frontman!

We got the text at 10pm last night that C had given birth and FINALLY divulged the name, Sophie Makenna! What a beautiful name and we're all chomping at the bit to go and visit and see the little cutie.

T is at the hospital recovering and is going to be there for about 4 days. We all plan on visiting her tomorrow when she's feeling a bit better.

Level 2 Cake Class Complete!

Last night was the culmination of 4 weeks of my second cake decorating course. We learned to work with color flow and royal icing. We made dozens of flowers ranging from apple blossoms, pansies, daffodils, dasies, Victorian roses, etc. We also had to learn and master the time consuming and hand-cramp inducing buttercream basketweave. Class was supposed to end at 8pm, but we ended up staying an hour over so we could finish our cakes and take photos.

Here is my finished product:

I Stopped Listening When You Started Talking

Hubby and I were watching the new episode of Vampire Diaries last night and it was awesome. Quick rundown of the show, Stephen & Damian Salvatore are 200+ year old vampire brothers with a huge dislike for each other. They were both in love with the same woman in their past years who died and it tore them apart. Stephen is trying to blend in with normal high-schoolers and falls in love with Alaina, who reminds him of the woman he loved may years ago. Damian is the older hell-raiser and comes back to town to torment his brother and cause a raucous. Stephen and Alaina are eating dinner at her house and Damian arrives unexpectedly to crash the dinner and as all vampire lovers know, he can't come into her house until she verbally invites him.

Stephen tries to get Alaina to send him away, but the ever gracious host invites his devilishly handsome ass in. All the while this scene is taking place, I'm loudly yelling to Alaina that she can't invite him in, otherwise he can come back whenever he pleases unless she rescinds the offer. Hubby looks at me and starts laughing and asks when the hell did I become a vampire expert. I had to laugh too because I was really getting into it.

I informed him that in the original Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie, Donald Sutherland explained to Buffy that vampires could only enter a house with an invitation and you would have to say "I rescind the offer for you to enter my house" or something similar to that. Hubby got this blank look on his face to which I asked if that made sense. He blinked a few times and replied "Oh, I'm sorry. I stopped listening once you started talking."

Extended Vacation

So thanks to my sister being re-located to another bank branch, I'm extending my visit to Florida next month! I'm going for 9 days instead of 6 days. Dang, I didn't realize how long I was going for until I just wrote it down. Hopefully I'll get some nice sunny days in Florida where I can work on my tan. Since it's getting to be a bit more like autumn here, I need to take advantage of Vitamin D while I can.

I'm happy I get to spend more time with my family, but I'm sure Hubby's going to say he feels neglected.

PSA

To all you men who think it's cool and hip to wear REALLY light colored jeans (which means basically white jeans) it doesn't look near as awesome as you think it does. You look like you're stuck in the 80's. Run, don't walk to your local mall and get yourself a pair of regular jeans or a really dark pair. Your future girlfriend will thank me for this.

Stress Factor

A friend of ours is a biology major and was able to shed some light to my Hubby about why mosquitoes seem to bite certain people more. Apparently if you have a lot of stress in your life, your blood smells differently than people who have a low-stress life. Stressed out blood smells sour to them and low-stress blood is sweeter and thus more attractive to the little blood-suckers.

This makes perfect sense because Hubby NEVER gets bit and the minute I step outside I am attacked by swarms of mosquitoes. So it's not a medical test, but you can judge the amount of stress in your life by your ability to attract mosquitoes. Pretty neat!
