That's what I'll be doing tonight to help out for the Easter Egg hunt going down this weekend in my hood. I'm a sucker for kids and my best friend in the hood is head of the social committee, so I got forced into helping. I'll be lending a hand because they have over 1,200 eggs to fill. I've also convinced Hubby to help in the hiding of eggs before the hunt.
As Easter approaches, I can't help but remember some fun memories from when I was younger. For instance, one Easter up North was so cold they had the fireplace kicking. Normally not a big deal, but it quickly turned into a problem when the chocolate in the baskets started to melt. Or the time our dog, Nikki, ate the huge solid chocolate Easter bunnies from the baskets. I remember my mom frantically calling Poison Control and us giving her peroxide so she'd throw up the lethal chocolate. Years later while we were cleaning out the basement to sell the house, we found those bunnies hidden in our toy storage bin!
I vaguely remember gatherings with the immediate family, which were normally forced and always a bit weird. Since Hubby's family lives so close, we normally go to the family Easter functions, but we may forgo them this year. My therapist says Easter is a time of new beginnings, yada, yada. I had to tell her I never actually looked at Easter like that, so it really wasn't a big deal to me. I honestly get more excited about the food. Hello Zitner coconut cream eggs!!!
