Did You Know...
If you cut the bottom off of a bundle of celery, it looks like a flower? What's cooler, if you're into making homemade cards, you can dip the bottom in paint and use it like a stamp. It turns out very pretty. I saw this a long time ago on some home design show. Cheap, yet classy.

No, lunch was miserable...
That's what my hubby just told me after we met for lunch today. He's worked 36 hours in the last two days and is exhausted. I'm in a pissy mood because he thinks we should skip the NYC trip this year with the economy being all crazy. So we sucked it up anyways and met for lunch at Wahoo's. It was forced, uncomfortable and I wished we had just skipped it.
When he dropped me off at work, I told him it was a nice lunch to which he smiled and replied "No, it was a miserable lunch." Instead of being put off, I laughed and agreed. We then kissed and agreed the next lunch would be better.

NYC Here I Come?
I was bored at lunch yesterday and thought I would check to see how much flights are costing these days. I was stoked to find out that I could purchase a ticket to Philly for $200 roundtrip!I'm going to talk to hubby tonight and see if he's down for going to NYC in May for my birthday again. Even if he's not, I'm going to book my flight. I guess I better start saving my money for that. Lord knows I'll get into trouble at H&M and Century 21 again. God I love NYC!

Goodbye Old Friend...
because I'm deleting you on Facebook. A few of us girls had a conversation this weekend regarding people from your past sending you a "friend request" on Facebook. For the most part, we tend to cave in and accept, not wanting to come across as rude. But let's face it, if you haven't talked to this person in lord knows how many years, is it really that rude to decline?
I will admit, I had two friends contact me around May last year saying they'd been trying to find me since I had graduation college 5 years earlier. Truth be told, I'm a crappy phone friend and really don't make much of an effort for people who are not in my core group. I'm lazy and really don't need more friends. Sometimes too many of a good thing can be a disaster. Plus it means you have to make an effort to maintain the friendship and it really takes a lot out of me to maintain "acquaintance friendships."
So today I decided to delete said friends from my account and I have to admit, I feel pretty good about it. I don't want them seeing my updates and pictures when they haven't been an integral part of my life for the last 5 years. I'm sure I'll be getting an email from them wondering what happened, and I just won't respond. I'll delete that email and go about my day. Cruel, maybe, but I have a limited amount of energy to give out and I prefer to save it for close friends.

Cuteness
My sister sent me a message this weekend letting me know that our stepdad had cleaned out the attic and found three boxes of baby pictures and VHS tapes from our younger years. I was so excited to hear that the photos and tapes had survived 10 years in a hot and muggy Florida attic! This is one of my favorite photos because I remember our yellow matching sundresses as one of my fondest memories. We used to wear them all the time and I loved that dress!
Notice our crazy bangs and the general uneveness of them. Gotta love your mother's handywork! I'm the cutie on the left and that's my younger sister on the right. She has the best dimples.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Another busy weekend, but luckily it was a closer to home weekend so I could get some rest to recover from the flu. Friday night we did nothing but watch TV and snuggle on the couch. Hubby and the guys were very excited for Saturday because a group of them had rented dirt bike and ATV's for the day. They headed out to Hill County and proceeded to spend the next 8 hours racing around the track and laughing as people wrecked. The girls however took a more relaxing approach to the day. We all met up around noon and proceeded to make some yummy dips and appetizers. We watched Mamma Mia, sang and danced around the house and waited for the boys to get back so they could cook up the meat for dinner.
Once the boys arrived home, the drinking began and my hubby managed to take it to the next level. He disappeared around 10ish without telling anyone and when I went home about an hour later, discovered he had walked home and passed out drunk in bed. Around midnight I hear a disgusting noise and an odorous smell and realized he had just vomited in bed. Wonderful! I was scathing mad and smacked him around until he came to and went into the shower. Oh, that was after he went into his closet in an attempt to pee. Awesome. I was stuck cleaning the linens and let me tell you, I was pretty furious. I refused to let him back into our bed and he had to sleep in the guest bedroom. I was up until 2am and the whole house smelled like wild game. Ugg.
When I woke up Sunday I decided I was still pissed and did not want to hang around him. He tried apologizing profusely, it didn't work. I informed him he was crazy to think we were having kids anytime soon because I'm not going to take care of a drunk hubby who vomits in bed all while having a screaming baby on my arm! I went to brunch with some friends to celebrate K's hard work and determination in finishing her first half marathon in 2 hours 3 minutes! Very impressive and I wish I could run like that! Afterwards a few of us went to the mall to walk off brunch and I proceeded to spend $60 on 4 itmes in Sephora. Love that place!
Once I returned home that evening hubby was apologizing again. We agreed to disagree and went on. We watched some movies and crashed around 10pm.

The Living Dead
I've been out sick with the flu since Monday after lunch and I totally feel like a creature from Night of The Living Dead. Albeit I actually showered and brushed my teeth today, I'm still incredibly sluggish and out of it. I had a lovely lunch with K on Monday and while I was driving back to work I began to feel ill. I jetted out of the office and prayed that on my 45 minute drive home I could hold back the gag reflex.
My prayers were answered and I was able to park the car, change into my jammies, and then proceeded to hug the toilet for 8 hours straight. I was throwing up every 15 minutes and seriously wanted to die. Miserable. I did do some constructive thinking while I was lying cold and helpless on my bathroom floor: I decided I would rather be anorexic than bulimic. Throwing up repeatedly is not for me. Oh, and I really need to chew my food better!
Moving on, I spent the next three days laying in bed utterly exhausted and not caring if I ate food again in my lifetime. That all changed last night as I slowly felt more human and nibbled on greater quantities of rice and noodles. I'm at work today and not happy about it. I got winded from walking up two flights of stairs! I'm rushing to get everything done so I can go home and rest.
My hubby did a wonderful attempt at taking care of me. He purchased cola, crackers, rice, etc so I could try and get better. As I was moaning in bed from the pain in my legs Monday night, he proceeded to tell me I was a crappy sick patient and to just go to bed! Hello Mr. Sensitive. God love the man who acts like the world is ending when he catches a cold or flu once every 5 years. The world does stand still for him! He acts like a martyr and goes into work, but who the hell appreciates your dedication when they're worrying about catching the flu from your sick ass? NO ONE!
My plan is to spend the weekend resting and doing nothing strenuous besides attending my Yoga class on Saturday. Maybe some Yoga will help me get back into the swing of things.
