TV Confession

I love the show Toddlers & Tiaras on TLC. The pageantry circuit fascinates me and I find the lengths the parents go to to make their child the "prettiest" interesting. It's like an hour glimpse into a foreign culture.

My hubby makes fun of me for watching this brainless show, but I don't care. He also points out how most of the moms are ugly and pushing their kids into pageantry to make up for their lackluster and non-beautiful childhood. He may have a valid point, so I don't argue with him.

I have to admit, it makes me want a crown real bad (name that movie reference!).

Amazing Photographer

Last week an article on CNN caught my eye, it was about finding romance via Flikr, the photo sharing website. Ever the sucker for romance, I read the article and learned more about a 17 year old English photographer named Rosie Hardy and her American boyfriend Aaron. Shortened version, they are both amateur photographers who found each other on Flikr and after months of talking, sharing ideas, etc, they began to fall in love. Cute story, but what I really love is how amazing their photos are.

They started a website together, http://nacedesign.com/blog/ , and it shows how they create their photos, both as a couple and individually. Rosie's photos are my favorite, especially her Fairytale series. What's even better is that you can order prints through Shutterfly on their website. Great price for really amazing photography. I'll be ordering a few prints to decorate my new office.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hubby had to work a home show on Saturday and had been trying to convince me to give up my Saturday to go and keep him company. I didn't really want to go because I would have to miss my Body Flow class, but I bargained with him. I would go if I could get another charm for my bracelet. He agreed and I got this bead to remember the honeymoon we'll be going on in 17 days!

While I was driving home from buying the bead, C. happened to be in our neck of the woods and we met up with them for dinner. We had lots of fun talking, laughing and stuffing our faces. Then we proceeded to go home and pass out!

Saturday I got up at 6am to get ready to leave by 7am for the home show. Turnout was pretty good, and we did have a good time hanging out together. Afterwards, we stopped in a quaint little town to do some window shopping and eat a wonderful dinner.

Hubby had to go back on Sunday, and sadly I was forced to miss! I went to Yoga and then raced home to get ready for a baby shower I was attending in the neighborhood. I made my sinful brownie/cookie creation which went over huge with the ladies. There were three babies in total at the party and they were adorable. I got to hold them all and they were so well behaved. They were all less than 2 months old and captivated everyone at the shower. Afterwards I headed to T's house to hang out for a bit while they worked on mosaic'ing their bird baths. Definitely hard work, but they were coming along beautifully. I took my chi to the park to get some fresh air and she managed to find an old hot dog and chicken leg and tried to eat it. Disgusting!

Later that evening, T and I managed to suit up and go for a run around the neighborhood. We're trying to get into slut body shape for summer!!!

Spring Is In The Air

Dogwoods are blooming, my iris bulbs are beginning to sprout and the temperature is a lovely 84 degrees today. I met some of my girlfriends for lunch and we feasted outside on the breezeway. Their was a perfect breeze to keep up cool, the sun was shining and everything is better when you meet up with friends for lunch on a Friday!

We did overhear a woman asking for a more private table because she was meeting up with her ex-boyfriend and they needed more privacy. Classic example of TMI. Weirdly, she was carrying a black case that resembled a flute case, which we were hoping didn't house a gun to off the ex.

Vandalized

As I was walking towards my office this morning and was about to flip on my lights, I noticed a shiny piece of what looked like glass on my floor. I was puzzled at first, but as I flipped on the lights and stepped into my office, I found the culprit. Sometime last evening, somebody threw a brick into my office window and shattered it!

Luckily nothing was stolen, it appears they got spooked and took off before finishing the window off. I freaked out and ran to the next suite and got the building owner. We did a quick search of the other rooms and luckily there was no damage. Glass was all over my desk, floor, bookcase,etc. My heart was racing because I just wasn't expecting all this drama this morning. Now I'm exhausted and need a nap. If I lived back in the Victorian age, it's safe to say I would have fainted with "vapors."

We called the police and filed a police report, but apparently since brick is porous, they can't get finger prints from it. (I'll be on the look-out for that mistake on the crime shows now!) As you can see from this picture, here is what my window looks like at the moment.

You Are Cleared For Takeoff!

After months of debating the best place to finally take our honeymoon, last night hubby and I booked our trip to Cozumel for a glorious 5 night, 6 day stay! I am very excited and relieved that hubby was able to stop agonizing over the best place to stay as well as the best price. There are so many wonderful resorts to choose from it was getting a bit overwhelming for me.

Hubby kept going back to one resort in particular because it is located at the end of the island which means less of a distance to amazing scuba diving. To keep things easy, I declared that the resort looked the best and we should pick that one. Whew, getting him to make up his mind is difficult! It's not a party resort, and no spring breakers are allowed, and that appealed to both of us. We are looking for a laid back vacation with lots of time soaking up the sun, snorkeling, scuba diving and possibly visiting the local ruins.

I need to start checking out my closet and deciding what to bring!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Another busy weekend has come and gone. Friday night found me shopping for more baby shower paraphernalia with C. & T. I've never been to Babies R Us, and it is quite an overwhelming experience. So many options and choices for everything from baby wipes to cribs and car seats. It's no wonder new mothers and fathers look so shell shocked in those stores!

Saturday I hit the gym and went to a friend's house to watch them mosaic a birdbath. It's way too much work, so I won't ever do one of my own. But I took the opportunity to make a centerpiece for the baby shower that I was hoping would come out well. K helped me assemble the pieces, and I have to say, it looks pretty good! So it's a keeper and I'll be using it at the shower next month. Later that evening we had dinner with E & E to do some catching up. We had a fabulous time and some great conversations. We even ran into some other friends who just happened to be there!

Sunday I was under the weather and slept in until noon. It was awesome. Then I got up and went into town to make some returns and waste some time. We had to be at a birthday party cocktail hour at 6pm, and like the classy group we are, we all piled into the motor home and rode to the swanky neighborhood in class. The food was amazing, especially the scalloped potatoes that had been parboiled in heavy whipping cream! Swoon! The wine was flowing and the oysters they had were fabulous. They were huge and there really is no ladylike way to eat it but stuff the whole thing in your mouth. Which I did on several occasions. I did catch an old man eating them right from the serving fork! I stayed away from that fork needless to say.
