WTF?

Sometimes I wonder about my Mother-in-Law, and I'm sure I'm not the only person to ever do so. I love her dearly, but I often question the way she is raising her 16 year old daughter.

Of course my Sister-in-law was trying to act cool since our band friends were in town and you could tell she really wanted to go downtown with us. Um, hello, you're 16, shouldn't you be studying or something?!

So Saturday morning my MIL calls to see how our friends enjoyed the downtown festivities, when she mentioned Taylor should have gone with us. Again, HELLO, she's a freakin' 16 year old who has no business hanging out with 28 year old people downtown. I don't care if she would have been with her brother and me, why would we ever accept responsibility to look after her downtown? She probably would have conveniently gotten "separated" from us and tried to get into other bars.

I know she's not my daughter, and it's a damn good thing. I'd have given her an ass-whoopin' a long time ago and set her straight. I'm not going to lie and say I never went into a club underage, I was 19 and I didn't drink. My SIL clearly wants to party and drink. Ugg, what is this world coming to? Teenagers who so desperately want to be adults and middle-age adults who so desperately want their childhood back!

SAD, very sad...gosh, it just makes you wonder what kind of challenges we will have as we raise our kids...it's not like the good old days anymore!!!!
